How to Sip Coffee Like a Local

October 14, 2019 | by Michelle Kehm

Want your favorite coffee drink for free? Easy! Help us keep the beach clean and your coffee is on us.

Seaside has something for everyone — its coffee spots included. It has artisanal sit-down bakeries with locally-roasted pour-overs, and it has spots to grab a pumpkin-spice latte before you hit the beach. Whatever you’ve got brewing on your trip, these local Seaside sips will do you right.

Seaside Coffee House

This spot on Holladay Drive has a laid-back living-room vibe and brews up their own Seaside Coffee Roasting beans at another site nearby in Seaside. Sit down on one of the many sofas and nurse an Almond Roca mocha as you chat up the locals. “I want to give people a place to slow down and feel human again,” says owner Michelle Wunderlich, who will remember your name and where you’re visiting from by the second visit.

Dough Dough Bakery

Right across the street from Seaside Coffee House, Dough Dough serves up its own signature roast of Cannon Beach’s Sleepy Monk coffee, called Cool Kids. The bottomless drip is divine and the chicory pour-over has a kick. Pair it with an oven-fresh chocolate tahini roll or jam-filled olee and grab a stool by the big windows.

Caffe Latte

Attention, shoppers: Amidst your search for the perfect souvenir at Seaside Carousel Mall, pop into this cute little cafe for a cup of ambition. Locally owned since 1989, Caffe Latte serves Hillsboro-roasted Longbottom Coffee. Grab a latte for you and hot cocoa with homemade whip for the kids. Then watch the little ones ride the carousel.

Beach Day Coffee

Located steps from the sand and historic Turnaround, family-owned Beach Day is famous for its specialty coffee drinks. Try the White Rocket; it’s made with Astoria’s Columbia River Coffee white espresso, which packs up to 40% more caffeine than regular espresso. Blast off and hit the Broadway shops.

Osprey Café

On the south side of town, Osprey Café is perhaps Seaside’s best-kept coffee secret. If you’re ordering joe to go, head straight to the counter and bypass the breakfast line. Grab an eye-opening Americano made with Columbia River Coffee and walk the few blocks to the Prom.

Rise & Grind PNW

In need of a pick-me-up for the road? Rise & Grind, a drive-through located right on Highway 101, uses Sleepy Monk coffee in all of its artisanal concoctions. Bulletproof coffee, golden-milk lattes, espresso-infused chai — even the pickiest coffee hound will get a good buzz on.

and so much more!
