Top Take-Out Spots in Seaside

June 27, 2018 | by Shellie Bailey-Shah

Maybe you need a quick breakfast to fuel your day’s adventure? Or you’re hungry for dinner but too tired to venture out of your room? Well, you’re in luck — Seaside has plenty of take-out dinner options. Better yet, many even deliver. From early-morning baked treats to late-night pizza, here are a few favorite spots to keep lazy foodies fed. (You can search for even more take-out and delivery restaurants here.)

On-the-go breakfast

Whether you rise early for a morning stroll on the Prom or an uphill hike in Ecola State Park, first point your nose toward Dough Dough Bakery (8 North Holladay Dr.), where bakers start working before dawn to have fresh-baked scones, biscuits, pastries and more ready by the time doors open at 7 a.m. Kick start your day with a cup of locally roasted coffee and take a sweet treat to-go. Or for a more substantial on-the-go breakfast, Bagels By the Sea (210 S. Holladay Drive) serves up sunny egg sandwiches on their chewy house-made bagels.

Picnic at the beach

Don’t let the no-frills vibe at Daisy May’s Sandwich Shop (1111 N. Roosevelt Drive) turn you off. Sandwiches here are served up on homemade bread — French, focaccia or wheat. Or you can opt for a wrap made with a garlic-and-herb tortilla. Be forewarned, their portions are huge, so you may want to share. And don’t forget to grab a cinnamon roll for dessert. Yes, there’s an extra 50¢ charge for take-out orders, but it’s worth it to enjoy this picnic lunch at the beach.

Kid-approved pizza

If the thought of taking your tired family to a sit-down restaurant after a long day in the sand causes you to lose your appetite, don’t worry. Simply pick up the phone and order a thin-crust pizza from Pizza Harbor (39 N. Edgewood St.). They’ll delivery your piping hot pie — plus sandwiches, salads and cheesy bread — right to your door. They even have gluten-free pizza on the menu.

Take-out dinner with a show

OK, I’m about to let you in on a local secret. It starts with a trip to Tora Sushi Lounge (619 Broadway St.), where you’ll order your favorite sushi rolls to go.  Then head down Sunset Boulevard to the south end of Seaside near Seltzer Park. You’ve arrived at an area known as “The Cove,”  a popular surfing spot, but also perfect for watching the waves roll in. Bring a blanket and take in the show featuring rip curls and a spectacular Seaside sunset.

A romantic night in

The authentic, New York-style pizza at Angelina’s Pizzeria & Cafe (1815 S. Roosevelt Drive) – relocated in early June to a more spacious location with expanded offerings is another serious contender for best pizza delivery in town. It’s also one of the best options for a romantic dinner in — you can order online too. For your main course, try their specialty sandwiches or baked ravioli. For dessert, choose the sweet treat of the week or the cafe’s mainstay, the strawberry-stuffed calzone.

Let’s Fly a Kite

On the beach at Seaside is perfect for this. There are no overhead wires and the beach has few up or down wind drafts from the winds which move across the ocean. This makes kite flying easier and explains why kites are a common part of the Seaside landscape. Kite flying is for dry days as wet kite lines can act as a conductor for static electricity and lightning in a storm.
