History and Hops will feature Clatsop Community College presenters Kevin Leahy and Jessica Newhall. Their topic will be “Immigration and Our Regional Economy- from Fort to Present”. As the oldest city in the State of Oregon and the first permanent American settlement west of the Rockies, Astoria and the surrounding area has a rich and dynamic economic history. This fun and engaging presentation, by Kevin Leahy and Jessica Newhall of the Clatsop Community College’s Center for Business, Community and Workforce Development, will explore that history through the lens of the people who made it possible- the human resources that arrived in the region in seek of a brighter future –and for the ambitious, wealth and opportunity.

This event is free to the public and anyone can attend. There will also be a 50/50 raffle for a cash prize. Must be present to win. Tickets will be sold on site for $1.00 each.

History & Hops is a series of local history discussions hosted by the Seaside Museum on the last Thursday of each month, September through May, at Seaside Brewing Co.

The Seaside History Museum is located at 570 Necanicum Drive and is open Wednesday – Saturday, 11 AM – 4 PM.
