If you’re looking for a vacation rental that’s as unique as you are, Seaside offers plenty of great places to stay. Though booking a romantic inn or seafront hotel is always an excellent option, you’ll also find historic cottages with a homey appeal and sprawling houses that are big enough for extended-family vacations. Here are some one-of-a-kind lodgings catering to special visitors.

A Taste of History at Vintage Cottages

Seaside is full of historic homes, a few of which have been converted into atmospheric vacation rentals. One of the finest examples is the Historic Scout’s Cottage, a century-old charmer on the northern end of the city. This cozy spot has a living room, a spacious kitchen with a gas stove on the first floor and two upstairs bedrooms, all decked out with vintage decor. Easily walkable to downtown, the artsy Starry Night Inn offers three cottages and an addition to complement three Victorian-style rooms in its main building. All are pet-friendly and include perks such as gas fireplaces and kitchenettes, and guests get access to the inn’s open-air bathhouses.

Four blocks from Seaside’s signature Promenade, Driftwood Cottage is an updated beach house from the 1950s with three light-filled bedrooms, two full bathrooms and a sleek modern kitchen, plus a greenery-filled backyard with a whirlpool hot tub. This cheery neighborhood spot gets plenty of repeat visitors, as does nearby Pikake House, a two-bedroom home dating to 1922. It’s a great option for dog owners thanks to a fenced-in grassy yard with a grill and special amenities for pups, including dog dishes and toys.

Spectacular Views at Oceanfront Condos

If you’re after single-level living and access to the beach, a condo might be your best bet. Seaside has many options, from centrally located complexes near the Turnaround to quieter options in the southern part of town. Just off the Prom, Sand & Sea Condominiums offers home-like condos with fireplaces, many with balconies that overlook the Pacific Ocean. Most of the bright, airy lodgings have two bedrooms and two bathrooms, and many can sleep up to six people. Some are pet-friendly. As these condos are individually owned, decor varies quite a bit, and all promise floor-to-ceiling windows that let in loads of natural light.

A few blocks south of Sand & Sea, Beach Drive Suites puts an intimate spin on the condo hotel concept, offering a two-bedroom, two-bath condo on the ground floor and a two-bedroom, one-bathroom unit on the second floor that can be expanded by adding an adjacent studio apartment.

On the south side of town, The Tides by the Sea has been welcoming guests to Seaside for the last century. This classic property offers a wide range of options for groups of different sizes, from cozy studios to spacious, individually furnished cottages. It’s not far from Lanai at the Cove at the base of Tillamook Head, a condo-style hotel that offers 22 quiet units a stone’s throw from the beach — each with a kitchenette and patio or balcony, and access to a seasonal pool.

Vacation Stays for Your Whole Crew

Big families and groups of friends don’t need to split up in Seaside, as there are many spacious properties offering plenty of room to spread out. For a central stay overlooking the Prom and the ocean, consider the Seaside Beach Front House, which can sleep up to nine people across four bedrooms and a sunroom sleeping area. Other highlights include a big living room with a fireplace, an outdoor hot tub, and a gourmet kitchen with plenty of room to cook and congregate. About a block from the Prom, the Ocean View beach house near the Cove is a hit among families, with four bedrooms and room for 10 people. Kids love the basement game room with ping-pong, foosball and an arcade table.

Nearby, Nordic House in the Cove is a similarly great option, with five bedrooms and three bathrooms, plus a game room with foosball. If you have kids in tow and would like to stay just a few blocks from the beach, Captains Quarters is another great option. This historic 1922 property has two king rooms and one kids’ room with four bunk beds, plus a big dining room table and a grassy lawn for fair-weather frolicking.
