Seaside watercraft adventures await visitors of all skill levels. With two rivers and multiple access points, anyone can enjoy the many floating pathways through the city. From family-friendly pedal boats to full size canoes, there is no shortage of supplies and rental options. Many businesses in Seaside cater to the watercraft adventurer, making the trip down the river the easiest part of a visit to Seaside.
Seaside is host to two major waterways, the Neawanna and the Necanicum, both feeding into the Necanicum Estuary. This delta creates a large, watery playground for those who travel by kayak or canoe. Tooling up and down the waterways, visitors can spot wildlife and see areas that would otherwise be inaccessible. There are several access points, including an easy-access, ADA watercraft launch at Broadway Park. Learn More
For guided trips, look for scheduled outings guided by Sunset Park and Recreation during summer months. All equipment and transportation are provided. Also, Clatsop Paddle Company offers lessons and tours in stand up paddle (SUP) boarding. Learn More
Just as there are places to explore, there are local businesses that are eager to help supply the exploration. Wheel Fun Rentals at Quatat Park offers a variety of family-friendly craft by the hour. These are shorter expeditions, as floating space is restricted to a 1/2 mile section of the river for most craft, perfect for new adventurers. Wheel Fun operates at Quatat Park April through October and only on weekends until mid-June. Learn More
For those who want a larger territory to explore and a full size craft, Cleanline Surf Shop offers rentals too. Use their soft racks and tie downs to help transport if operating without a vehicle rack. Available year-round. Learn More
Kayaking experts will enjoy the easy access from the Necanicum Estuary out into the Pacific Ocean, but those who are just learning or prefer a more mild experience will appreciate the easy-access, ADA accessible watercraft launch at Broadway Park. It takes the guessing out of a first launch and opens up many adventure opportunities for the beginner. Learn More
Whatever water adventure visitors choose, Seaside is proud to offer the waterways and watercraft as the backdrop to the next exploration. As always, contact the Seaside Visitors Bureau at (503) 738-3097 or info@seasideOR.com with questions. Editor’s Note: Please pay extra attention to Tide Tables as river waters are tidally influenced and can play a big role in your water adventure. The best time to hit the water is typically at slack tide, approximately 30-60 minutes between low and high tide.
