Ask any local, “Where should I go to finish my coffee?” Most will point you to their favorite local coffee shop and then shortly send you south to The Cove. A place, some even say, where a visit to Seaside is not complete until you have stopped along the crescent shore.
The Cove wraps around Tillamook Head with a bed of salt-water-polished rocks and local vegetation. I recommend a nice stroll along the rocky path, pausing to capture photos of the sea life when necessary.
If you are looking for a nice jog and a small challenge, start at the North end of the Prom on 12th Avenue, move south along the 1.5-mile flat path, take a quick left on Avenue U, then continue right on Ocean Vista Drive for some spectacular architecture and scenery. You can check out full details of this trail and others at our hiking page.
Not looking to weather that storm? Parking is right off the rocks; pointing west for relaxing imagery. Turn on the heater, sit back, relax, and watch as the tide washes over the oil-like rocks. Acting as puffy pillows for lonesome rocks, sea foam is found in abundance here. During the winter months, this area harbors some of the best storm watching.
Whether its summer or winter, you will always be able to find people and animals alike at the South end of Seaside. Seaside’s Cove is truly serenity at its finest.
Editor’s Note: For easy access to The Cove, turn west onto Avenue U off Highway 101 and then take a left on S Edgewood Street or Ocean Vista Drive.
