VIDEO: Eat Well – and Local – in Seaside

Visitors have been coming to Seaside for more than 150 years. They come for fun, of course, and for family time at the beach… and Seaside is well known for both of these things. What sometimes gets left out, though, is the food!

Set against the cold waters of the Pacific Ocean, nestled between two rivers, and tucked into the coastal mountains, Seaside has all those elements that have made the Pacific Northwest a rich environment for millennia.

Today there’s a creative energy running throughout Seaside, with an eye on local ingredients and sustainability. Places like Dough Dough Bakery, Osprey Café and Maggie’s on the Prom are pushing into experimental territory on par with any big city eateries. You have breweries repurposing historical buildings like Seaside Brewery in the old city jail and Sisu Beer in the iconic Times Theatre on Broadway. Meanwhile, Sea Star Gelato was recently named “Best Ice Cream in Oregon” and the Seaside Farmers Market brings the best artisans and farm producers from the North Coast region together each summer. Longtime local seafood purveyors Bell Buoy of Seaside are the most recent addition to the trail!

The North Coast Food Trail gives visitors to Seaside a jumping off point for self-guided culinary tours here and all along Oregon’s North Coast… and it places Seaside squarely on the map for these things, as well. Looking forward!
