The Mill Ponds Natural History Park Reopening Event

Friday, April 10th from 2 – 5 pm.

Free family fun event at the park entrance on Alder Mill Ave and rediscover Seaside’s Mill Ponds.

After several months of restoration and safety improvements, Mill Ponds Natural History Park will reopen to the public on Friday, April 10, with a free community event from 2 to 5 p.m. at the park entrance on Alder Mill Avenue.

The park was temporarily closed in June 2025 to allow for critical cleanup, habitat restoration, and trail improvements. During that time, City staff and partners worked to remove debris and hazardous materials, repair damaged areas, restore native vegetation, and reestablish safe, designated pathways throughout the park.

These efforts mark an important step in restoring the health of this unique natural space and ensuring it can be safely enjoyed by the community for years to come.

The April 10 reopening event is an opportunity for residents and visitors to experience the renewed park and reconnect with one of Seaside’s most distinctive natural areas. The family-friendly event will include:

  • Guided nature walks
  • Live music
  • Art and storytelling activities
  • Science experiments for all ages
  • And a few “magic moments” along the way

All are welcome to attend and rediscover Mill Ponds Natural History Park.

Following the event, community members are invited to gather informally at Ruby’s Roadside Grill to celebrate the reopening and the continued work of the City’s Parks Committee.

For more information on the event, please call (971) 320-4182.

Mill Ponds Park has long been a valued part of the community, with a history dating back to the early 1900s. The recent restoration builds on decades of conservation efforts and reflects the City’s ongoing commitment to maintaining safe, healthy, and welcoming public spaces.

The City thanks residents, volunteers, and partners for their patience and support during the closure and looks forward to welcoming the community back to Mill Ponds Park.
