A DRIVEN HISTORY: The Story of Horse-Drawn Transportation in America
This month at History & Hops as we welcome Jerry Bowman, Curator of the Northwest Carriage Museum!
Jerry is known nationwide for his entertaining and informative presentations on the history, restoration, and
conservation of 19th-century horse-drawn vehicles. With over two decades of hands-on experience, Bowman has
restored 40+ carriages, buggies, sleighs, wagons, and dozens of period artifacts. His deep knowledge, engaging
storytelling, and quick sense of humor make his talks both educational and fun.
During his lively presentation, guests will learn about the evolution of horse-drawn vehicles in America and hear
fascinating behind-the-scenes stories from the world-class collection housed at the museum. Through photos and
videos, Bowman brings to life the craftsmanship and character of these remarkable vehicles, plus his colorful history
of the people who once used and drove them will keep you entertained.
The Northwest Carriage Museum is located in Raymond, Washington. It is home to one of the finest collections of
19th-century horse-drawn vehicles in North America. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the museum features 65
