Join North Coast Land Conservancy (NCLC) Stewardship Director Melissa Reich for a walk highlighting some of the innovative research and stewardship strategies NCLC is exploring in and the efforts to protect the unique prairie ecosystem of the Clatsop plains. NCLC has been very active for more than two decades in conserving and rehabilitating the native coastal prairie within in the Neacoxie Wildlife Corridor between Gearhart and Warrenton. Come see how the native violets planted here last November are doing, and check out the grasses and wildflowers coming in where a jungle of Scotch broom once dominated the dunes. This is a fairly easy walk on flat ground, but there is no formal path surface; the walk will be across grass and forest floor, about 1 mile total. No toilets on site. No dogs allowed on site. Bring water and snacks if you need them. Wear sturdy walking shoes and dress for the day’s weather. Binoculars are always a great idea.
