Seaside Fire Dept.

Chief Dotson started with the Seaside Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department in 1979. At that time, he was also employed by Crown Zellerbach Logging Company. When that company shut down in 1985, Joe went to work full time for Medix Ambulance Company. He was also promoted as the Fire Department’s EMS Lieutenant. In 1986 Joe took the job of Training Officer/Department Safety Officer with the rank of Captain. As the result of the passing of a ballot measure in 1991, he was hired full time by the City of Seaside as the Training Officer/Fire Marshal. In July of 2000 Joe was promoted to Fire Chief of the Department. Joe has served under the leadership of Fire Chief Floyd Pittard and Fire Chief Jim Puckett.
